Motorist dies in four-car crash on 60 Freeway

A 23-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured Sunday in a four-car crash on the 60Freeway in Industry, authorities said.

The accident occurred at about 1:40 a.m. on the eastbound side of the roadway near the San Gabriel River when a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by a 26-year-old Rowland Heights man struck the center divider, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck, which braked to avoid the Toyota, was then rear ended by a 2010 Nissan Versa, driven by the 23-year-old who died. The impact propelled the pickup truck sideways, blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway.

A 2006 Toyota Camry then struck the  pickup truck. The driver of the Nissan, whose name was not released, was taken to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the pickup truck and a passenger in the Camry were treated for minor injuries.
