TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Investigators with the Tampa Police Department are on the lookout for a hit-and-run driver who triggered a serious crash early Friday on West Hillsborough Ave.
The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. and sent two people to the hospital.
According to a TPD report Leo Curbelo-Izquierdo was heading east in his Jeep Cherokee when he was nudged from behind by a light-colored pickup truck.
The collision caused Curbelo-Izquierdo, 19, to lose control of his vehicle. The Jeep struck a nearby building causing serious injuries to the driver and his passenger, 18-year-old Zaraida Yuda.
They were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where they are listed in critical condition.
The driver of the truck did not stop.
The impact between the vehicles was captured by a surveillance camera in the area.
Investigators say the truck has a black bug deflector that was damaged by the crash. It may also have a cracked front headlight and may have blue paint on it from the Jeep.
