One dies, one seriously injured in early-morning I-95 crash in Delray Beach

One person was killed and a second one hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a three-vehicle wreck early Sunday on Interstate 95.

Involved in the crash were an 18-wheeler carrying chickens, a pickup and a white Nissan Sentra, said Capt. Curtis Jepsen, spokesman for Delray Beach Fire Rescue. The driver of the Sentra was declared dead at the scene on Interstate 95, between the Linton Boulevard and Congress Avenue exits.

A passenger in the Nissan was ejected and taken to Delray Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Occupants of the other vehicles were not injured, Jepsen said.
