One man has died and three other people are in the hospital after two vehicles
collided in suburban Boynton Beach, according to reports from the Palm Beach
County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue.

The man died in surgery at Delray Medical Center several hours after the
crash, Sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.

The late-night crash is still under investigation and details about the
victims are scant.

The crash happened at 10:23 p.m. Sunday on Lyons Road north of Boynton Beach
Boulevard at the entrance of the Cobblestone Creek community, Barbera said.

A four-door Infiniti with four people inside was northbound on Lyons, when the
driver of a Dodge Caravan headed south attempted to turn left into the
neighborhood and turned into the path of the Infiniti, Barbera said.

The Caravan’s driver – the only person in that vehicle – and four occupants in
the Infiniti were all injured, Barbera said.

Accounts from fire rescue officials Sunday night indicated four people were
taken to the hospital.

Around 4 a.m. today, a man who had been a backseat passenger in the Infiniti
died while in surgery, Barbera said.

She did not have further information about the victims.
