BOCA RATON, Fla. – A 42-year-old man from Pompano Beach, Fla., died in a crash on Interstate 95 in Boca Raton on Wednesday night.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a Corvette driven by David M. Heaton, 39, of Oakland Park, Fla., and another Corvette driven by Scott R. Jones, 42, of Pompano Beach, Fla., were traveling southbound on I-95 just south of Palmetto Park Road.
At about 9:25 p.m., both vehicles made contact, causing the vehicle driven by Jones to lose control and travel in a southwesterly direction.
The Corvette driven by Jones then collided with the guardrail located on the outside shoulder and came to a final rest facing west, said FHP.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
All southbound lanes were blocked at southbound I-95 and Palmetto Park Road for the investigation. All southbound lanes were reopened at 1:54 a.m. Thursday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
