Update: Road clear after train fatally strikes man lying on tracks in Boynton

Update: At 11:30 a.m., the crash at the FEC tracks was cleared and Woolbright Road at Ocean Avenue re-opened, Boynton Beach police report.

Original Post: A man was lying on the FEC railroad tracks when has struck and killed by a southbound train in Boynton Beach Thursday morning. The area of Woolbright Road and Ocean Avenue where the crash happened will be closed for several hours as authorities investigate, said Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

The crash was reported at 8:57 a.m. The man was hit by a freight train headed for Miami carrying autos and merchandise in containers, said Florida East Coast Railway spokesman Bob Ledoux in an email. The investigation will be handled by Boynton Beach police.
