Girl, 2, killed by car in Delray Beach; driver cooperating with police

A 2-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car Friday night, city police said.

The crash occured just afer 6 p.m. in Delray Shores, south of Lake Ida Road and west of Congress Avenue, said Rachel VanNess, city police spokeswoman.

The driver initially left the scene but later returned to the scene of the crash — the 600 block of Angler Drive — and is cooperating with city police, VanNess said.

The driver, who police have not yet identified, had not been charged with any crimes as of noon Saturday, VanNess said.
