BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The Boynton Beach Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 68-year-old woman Monday evening.

The woman was crossing West Boynton Beach Boulevard just west of Old Boynton Road around 6:15 p.m. when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Escape, said Stephanie Slater, spokeswoman for city police.

Witnesses told police the vehicle was turning left onto Boynton Beach Boulevard from Northwest 8th Street when it struck the victim, who was not crossing the road at the crosswalk.

The elderly woman was taken to Delray Medical Center in serious condition, Slater said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Officer George Baldino at 561-742-6853 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted via email at www. Bbpd.org or our MyPD app. Callers can remain anonymous, Slater said.
