Man accused of hit-run and punching deputy – Sarasota Herald

Christopher Delatorre, 38, allegedly struck two vehicles on the U.S. 41 Bypass about 6:45 p.m. Friday. He crawled out of his passenger window, according to the accident report.

Delatorre, who was wearing a green shirt, ran to a local Walgreen’s, where he tried on a white shirt. Deputies approached him inside the store, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Delatorre punched one of the deputies, then ran outside and tried to open the doors of two locked patrol vehicles, his arrest report states.

Delatorre is charged with hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license, battery on a law enforcement officer, petit theft, two counts of attempted vehicle theft and two counts of obstruction.

He has an extensive arrest history outside of Sarasota County, has been to prison twice and is being held at the Sarasota County jail on an outstanding warrant in Hardee County for methamphetamine, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
