Third serious Saturday crash in Guelph sends two to hospital

Guelph Mercury

GUELPH — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision near downtown Guelph Saturday night.

Guelph firefighters extricated a woman out of a heavily damaged Chevrolet Cavalier after it collided with a metallic gold Ford heavy-duty pickup truck at the intersection of Macdonell and Wellington streets sometime around 5:00 p.m.

Guelph-Wellington paramedics took a woman with serious injuries and a man with unknown injuries to Guelph General Hospital for treatment, according to Guelph Police Staff Sergeant Andrea Ninacs. Their exact condition is unknown.

Ninacs said an Ornge air ambulance landed at the Guelph Airpark shortly after the collision but did not take either of the injured away.

Several streets in the vicinity were closed while police investigated the incident just east of downtown.
