Few details have emerged the day after two Deltona girls died in a crash involving a school bus Friday, but the Florida Highway Patrol has released the names of the children.

Ashlie Ramos, an 11-year-old, died at the scene of the incident when a Seminole County school bus hit the car she was riding in near Sanford.

Nyasia Quinones, a 7-year-old, survived the crash, but died a short time later at Central Florida Regional Hospital.

The investigation into what exactly happened continues today with charges against the driver pending.

Andrea N. Ruz, of Deltona, was driving her Mazda 626 eastbound on Ronald Reagan Boulevard near State Road 417 about 4:30 p.m. when she turned left in front of the school bus, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Wanda Diaz said.

The bus, which had three students on board, hit the passenger side of the car, Diaz said. The bus driver and students were not hurt.

Ruz was seriously injured, but she is expected to recover. The children who died were passengers in her car.

The students on the bus were from Eugene Gregory Memorial Youth Academy, an alternative school, said Kenneth Lewis, transportation director for the Seminole County school district.

The school district has arranged for counseling services for the students, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Heather Smith said.
