There were no injuries resulting from a crash involving a pickup truck, a car and an apartment, according to Fort Lauderdale firefighters.

The chain reaction collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on Friday when the sporty pickup hit a sedan and propelled it through the wall of an apartment at 1235 NE 15th Ave.

Carl Stanley, 37, was in the kitchen of that apartment when neighbor Larry Bisnett’s car came crashing through the living room window.

“I heard a loud noise [and] I ran outside just to see what happened,” he said. “I was glad I wasn’t on the couch because the couch is full of glass and stones and all that so I’m just happy I wasn’t hit with the car.”

Bisnett, 56, heard the noise too.

“I was in shock when it happened but I didn’t feel anything from inside the house,” he said. “I was amazed to see the damage when I came out.”

He said he hasn’t had the silver Volvo very long.

“I just bought the car two weeks ago and I was so happy,” he said. “As long as nobody was hurt that’s the main thing.”

Bisnett believes the pickup truck driver lost control while speeding.

“He had to be to drive my car, from being parked, through a concrete wall and into the window and into the building itself,” he said.

Police were investigating the cause of the crash late Friday.
