— A Royal Palm Beach man is dead after a crashing his car into another Sunday evening on Forest Hill Boulevard in suburban West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s officials report.

The 35-year-old man’s name has not been released as authorities attempt to contact his family.

A preliminary account of the crash by investigators indicate the man was exiting Casa Del Monte and attempting to turn west onto Forest Hill Boulevard about 6:34 p.m. on Sunday.

But investigators report the driver missed the roadway and instead his Nissan struck the median curb repeatedly, finally mounting the median and then crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting an eastbound car.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews extricated the man from his car and flew him to Delray Medical Center where he died from his injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. The driver in the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Sheriff’s investigators suspect the driver had been drinking alcohol, the statement said.
